Export To A Crystal Report

Export will allow you to complete a series of screen to merge the output into a Crystal Report. This process is only relevant if you have the development version of Crystal Reporting available.

Select Add.

Enter a Description for the export definition.

Select where the definition is cross referenced to a user defined QLX Crystal Report. For this definition, the box must be ticked.

The other screens of this definition can be left blank.

Click Save when requested. The following confirmation prompt will be given.

To run the export, highlight and select the definition.

This will run the query and bring up the Crystal Report confirmation screen.

At this stage, you will only be able to output the information to the grid viewer.

As a result of running the above process, a file with a name of format frmSHRQxxx.ttx will have been created in the c:\temp\QLXHRgrids directory, holding details of the fields being output in this query.

A crystal report called frmSHRQxxx.rpt will now need to be created to reference this ttx file. The .rpt file can be created either by copying and renaming a previous .rpt file (a blank template can be provided on request), or by use of New within the Crystal Report Writer.

Also as a result of running the above process, an entry will have been created in the Report Maintenance system of QLX. This can be accessed by selecting Maintenance from the QLX top Toolbar and then choosing Printing and Report Maintenance from the drop-down menus.

The Crystal Reports will show under QL Personnel, HRQ,

Access the report definition that has just been created. Click + to left of the report name and options will expand.

Then highlight the Report Template heading and click Add. The following screen will be presented.

Enter a meaningful report name in Name and Description. Click on  box and browse to find the frmSHRQxxx.rpt file that you created in the Crystal Report Writer.

Click OK and the report definition will be stored within the QLX system.

When you next run the query and use the Export function, the Crystal Report confirmation screen will allow you to use the Report Viewer and to define in the Report Template box the report you have just stored.

Click OK. A Crystal Report will now be produced using the query as the basis for the data.
